Rainy Day

Sitting on the porch

Under the mystic clouds

Waiting for the rain to pour

Down on me with all its might

Thinking about home, where I sat

Resting on the small window

Seeing the world through

Sitting on the porch

Watching kids playing in the mud

Plucking flowers while they still bud

Floating paper boats

Just to watch them go bloats

Hearing parents calling out

Names after every small bout

Sitting on the porch

Watching leaves sparkling with hint of sunlight

And drenched streets gleaming in the night

The dripping water over broken panes

Washing the muck off my brains

The sweet smell emanating from earth

Making me believe what I’ve lost for my girth

Sitting on the porch

When I look around

The alien wetness on the ground

Trickling drops making surreal sound

Whispering in my ears, telling me to unbound

Sitting on the porch

I ask myself, is it worth

The time here I spend in dearth
